Marie-Hélène Lemaire
Research Assistant
Marie-Hélène Lemaire is a doctoral student in Communication Studies at Concordia University, Montreal. Her research interests lie in audience reception of art works in museums and galleries. She wants to reconceptualize ideas of museum education and imagine a more collaborative, improvisational, and embodied process of interpreting art pieces within exhibition spaces. She proposes therefore that the museum educator be recast as mediator/animator. To do so, she brings both mediation theory and feminist theories of embodiment into dialogue with her eleven years of experience as a museum médiatrice/animatrice.
